About the project:
The winner of the ‘Sensors and Payload’ category is Lifeseeker, developed by CENTUM research and technology. Lifeseeker is the fastest and most accurate phone location technology and completely step-changes search and rescue missions, as any person can be quickly found and rescued as long as they are carrying a mobile phone. Lifeseeker also makes search and rescue operations safer for rescue teams, especially in adverse weather conditions or difficult terrain, as they can first pinpoint the exact location of the victim before providing assistance without having to deploy a full search team. In 2021 alone, Lifeseeker has been responsible for more that 15 success cases, with an average rescue time of less than one hour.

Very innovative and I really liked the impact case showcasing their success stories and impressive record. This was a very good project where I think the integration with GNSS-denied tech may be a helpful progression. I’d love to see this used in a humanitarian concept (i.e. if a missing persons phone is off). It’s a new approach having real impacts with results!
