Terms & Conditions
By submitting an entry or purchasing a ticket, you confirm that you have read and agree with the following 'Terms of Entry' and understand that these now apply.
Submission terms
Eligibility
The Airwards are given to recognise new, creative and innovative ways of using unmanned aerial vehicles to make our world better, safer and more productive. This can include new products, solutions, technology, projects or other advances in unmanned systems technology and applications. Interested applicants should not be limited by these descriptions, but rather should seek to push the boundaries of the possible.
The Airwards are open to any organisation or individual. Eligible organisations include businesses, nonprofits, schools, and government agencies.
All submissions must have been released, launched, implemented, deployed or otherwise put into use on or after 1st January, 2018. Beta versions, upgrades or new releases that include significant changes and added features are also welcome.
Airwards assumes all entries are original and the entrant either owns the work or has permission from a client or other appropriate party to enter the work, with all rights granted therein. There is space for giving credit to partners and consortia within the entry form - it is the obligation of the entrant and not Airwards to ensure correct credit is given.
In the event that an entrant without such rights the entry will be disqualified.
Projects may be entered into more than one category; however, separate entry fees must be paid for each category entered. For the 2020/2021 awards we have waived the entry fee.
Sponsors may enter the awards, however may not enter the category that they are sponsoring.
Submissions
Submission to the awards must be made through our online portal by the published entry deadline date. Only information submitted via the portal will be considered by the judges.
All submissions must be proven to be safe and responsible, it is vital that the project has all of the relevant permits and licenses required in the country of origin. You will be asked to confirm that your project met all legislative requirements before submission. In the event it is proven the project did not meet the relevant requirements the submission will be disqualified and any awards given will be revoked.
Entries are paid in full at the point of submission. The total amount payable will be the price per entry and point of 100% payment being received. Any submissions not paid in full by the end of the Early Bird pricing phase will be chargeable at the full rate when making the final payment.
Any submissions not paid in full by Friday 12th March, 2021 may be disqualified or subject to a late entry fee to be considered. This is null and void as for the 2020/2021 awards we have waived the entry fee.
The language of the programme is English, all entries must be submitted in English. Any entries not written in English will be translated for the purpose of judging using Google Translate. Airwards will not be held responsible for any mis-translations made on entries not submitted in English.
Under no circumstances will a submission be eligible for a refund if the submission does not make it through the rounds of judging.
Any URLs, access details, usernames and passwords submitted must be supplied with the completed submission and continue to work until 24th May, 2021. Any supporting evidence which cannot be viewed will be disqualified.
Submissions may be amended up until the final deadline date of Friday 12th March, 2021, for amendments after this date please email hello@airwards.online for guidance - a late entry fee may be charged for amendments made after the deadline. For the 2020/2021 awards we have waived the entry fee.
There is no limit on the number of submissions permitted. An organisation or individual may submit as many entries in as many categories as appropriate. Where the same project is being submitted into multiple categories, a separate entry form and applicable payment is required for each submission.
Submissions may be withdrawn for any reason, however are not refundable.
The deadline for submission is Friday 12th March, 2021.
Applications for an extension to the submission deadline can be made to hello@Airwards.online, if the application is successful it will be subject to a late entry fee. All extension deadlines must be agreed in writing. For the 2020/2021 awards we have waived the entry fee.
Any submissions not completed by the deadline, or pre-agreed extension deadline, will be disqualified.
Any information shared as part of your submission for any category will only be seen by the judging panel and will not be published, made public or used for any purpose other than judging the awards.
By entering and providing information and details to the Airwards, you are consenting to your details being used in further Airwards marketing.
Judging
Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of a selection of industry experts from different fields. The judges will be appointed by Airwards, in consultation with others as deemed appropriate.
The panel of judges will evaluate and score your solution based solely on your online entry.
The judges' decisions are final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into with any entrants regarding them, nor will Airwards accept any appeals with regard to such decisions.
Judges have the right to:
Disqualify submissions that do not fulfil the entry conditions.
Move an entry to another category if a judge feels it would be better suited in that category
If your project is embargoed, you may indicate that on the online submission form, as well as the date until which the product is embargoed. We ask our judges to honour all embargoes and not share any information publicly prior to the embargo being lifted, however, Airwards cannot assume responsibility for the actions of our judges.
Judges are required to alert Airwards to any conflicts of interest including, but not limited to:
Personal Relationships:
Nominations by friends, life partners, business colleagues, your own employer, contractor or family members that are submitted in the category you are judging
Financial Relationships:
Any instance in which you were paid, in relationship to the award you are judging (category, nominees, nominators, etc.)
In the event of a conflict of interest, judges will absent themselves from any discussions or scoring.
All judges are required to sign a non-disclosure agreement prior to being given access to the judging portal.
People’s Choice
The People’s Choice awards comprises of online nominations, followed by a public vote of the nominees shortlisted by our judges.
Anyone may nominate any person or company within the drone industry into the relevant category.
Registration will be required in order to nominate, to validate your nomination, self nomination is not permitted.
Once the shortlist has been announced voting can be made via our awards platform, each person may vote once per category, any duplicate votes will be removed. Any votes considered suspicious with the potential to have not been made by a human will be removed, examples of suspicious activity are:
E-mail addresses created from automated email APIs and software
Spiked voting from the same IP address or concentrations from a single geographic IP region
E-mail addresses that match those purchasable at popular bulk email address providers
A large number of votes in a very short period of time
Large numbers of votes with very little site visit time and/or low session time
Users voting multiple times with the same email, usually via abuse of the Gmail + (plus) or . (period) functionality
Votes from sequential email addresses
The winner will be deemed as the person or company with the highest number of votes.
Shortlists and Winners
Shortlists will be announced between Tuesday 20th & Thursday 22nd April, 2021.
Finalist badges will be available to download from Friday 23rd April, 2021. Any entrant who is a finalist is eligible to download and display the badge relevant to the category/ies they have been shortlisted for on their website and any relevant printed or electronic communication.
Winners and runners-up will be announced virtually between Tuesday 25th & Thursday 27th May, 2021 and on Airwards.online on Friday 28th May, 2021.
Winner and runner-up badges will be available to download from Friday 28th May, 2021. Any entrant who has won or been awarded runner-up in their category is eligible to download and display the badge relevant to the category/ies they have won or been awarded runner-up for on their website and any relevant printed or electronic communication.
Winners will receive their trophy and framed certificate at the Winners Soiree, in the event that you cannot attend the Winners Soiree it will be posted to you within one week of the event date.
Winners, runners-up and finalists will receive their certificate by email on Friday 28th May, 2021, in both a printable and up-loadable format.
If an entry receives an award, the manner and details of announcing such nomination and award is strictly within the discretion of Airwards. Entrants understand that all awards may not be given or publicised in the same manner.
Airwards will publish details of the shortlisted entrants, honourable mentions and category winners, including profiles of their projects/technologies/services etc., using the information taken from the entry form. We will not reveal the names of those companies/individuals who are not shortlisted.
Entrants are encouraged to share the news of their placement in Airwards Shortlists, Honorable Mentions and Wins in any advertising or promotional material, however they must state the year which the award was won.
Entry pricing
Entry pricing will be based on company size, turnover and trading time, this information will be collected upon registration and will automatically apply the correct pricing to your entries.

Discount codes
Discount codes are personal to your organisation and may not be shared with other organisations.
Only one discount code can be used per entry.
In the event it is found that a discount code has been shared, both parties will be required to pay the full entry price for any entries the code is used for. In the event that the full fee is not received the entries will be disqualified. For the 2020/2021 awards we have waived the entry fee
Event terms
A reception will be held in June 2021 (date to be confirmed) where winners will be presented with their trophy.
Each winning company or individual will receive one complimentary ticket to the reception. Shortlisted companies, or winners requesting additional tickets may be purchased from airwards.online.
All tickets must be paid in full at the time of booking.
Tickets for the event will not be issued and will not be held until payment has been received in cleared funds.
All bookings will be confirmed upon receipt of payment.
In the unlikely event that we need to change the date or cancel the event for the event for reasons beyond our control, we will give as much notice as possible and your booking will be transferred to the new date.
Withdrawal/Cancellation
Withdrawal of any entries, and cancellation of any ticket bookings must be made in writing to hello@airwards.online.
Category entries are non-refundable at any time, unless the category is withdrawn by Airwards, or the Chair of Judges.
Winners soiree tickets are non-refundable.
In the event that the winners soiree is cancelled, a full refund will be made of any tickets purchased.
In the event that a submission is disqualified on the grounds of breaking one of the terms and conditions, no refund will be given for any awards entries or event ticket purchases.
General
Registration for, and any engagement with the Airwards awards is subject to the above terms and also Airwards’ general terms of business which can be viewed here. With regards to GDPR and data protection please see our privacy policy.
Entry in the competition entitles Airwards the rights to use company names, any solution descriptions or images for promotional materials created by Airwards and/or its sponsors with respect given to embargoed content.
Airwards and the judges reserve the right to interpret and apply these Rules and Regulations without claim for damage or recourse of any kind.
